As far as we know this is the only actual bike wall art that is not just a picture of a bike taken apart but a real bicycle taken apart and encased in a acrylic frame. Moreover, the background used was a decorative etched stainless steel panel. Looked amazing in this multi-million-dollar home.
Most, if not all, bike apart art that you see on the internet is just a picture of a bike disassembled and laid out on the ground. This took months to create and we feel that it turned out pretty good.
The bike was disassembled, all parts cleaned and polished then laid out on a cardboard background.
Every modification was sent to the owner for approval. When the final layout was determined, the parts were then taped to the cardboard and the layout was carefully moved to a van and brought to a local fabrication company for final assembly.
THIS PARTICULAR BICYCLE WALL ART WAS A COMPLICATED BUILD
This was a very tedious process which involved precise placement and drilling of the holes into a relatively expensive, stainless steel background. The parts were held into place with small, round delrin plastic dowels. Notches sawed into the dowel held the parts to the dowels. A small hole needed to be drilled in the back of it so it could be screwed into the background.
The pictures below show the process.
